Data collectors are failing with the following error:
"Unable to retrieve Teradata database version or retrieved unknown Teradata database version". Tried disabling and enabling the system so that system data collector runs and clears this error. But no luck on this. Can you suggest?

Which is the difference between the quantity of databases shown in viewpoint and the databases in dbc?
In viewpoint we can see 298 databases but this query returns 357: select count(*) from dbc.databases.
Which kind of filter was apply?

We have many users and many data labs existing on our system. When submitting a data lab request, most users allocate themselves way too much space. Now our group is hitting the space limit.I would like to do is to loop through all available data labs in that group, and decrease the allocated space of each data lab to a minimum (e.g. actual size + 15%). In viewpoint, this would take me ages to point and click through all the data labs. Is there any other way? Possibly by accessing using the terminal and creating scripts or running specific commands?

Is there a way to alert on 'data collector status' ?
For instance, if the password for the account used by the data Collector was changed on the system and not in viewpoint, there is a warning icon.
The data collector fails to collect any monitoring information.

We have a challenge prototyping a particular Filter condition in the Viewpoint Workload Management portlet.
In a nutshell, we have a development user id that has access to a number of databases on our development system. For two of these databases (the one contains the base tables, the other is the corresponding view layer), we want to prevent the user from joining these two databases to the remainder of the databases that they have read access to.
The reason for this is that we have a challenge convincing certain parties of the importance of having a single data integration layer with dependant data marts, including the need to design tables to be joinable in the most efficient manner possible. The developers have indicated that these two databases will always be stand-alone, and that users will never be joining the tables/views contained in them to our existing integration layer.
To ensure that this will always be adhered to (to prevent performance impact), we want to enforce this via filters.
However, the problem is that the logic and conditions available via the workload filters do not seem to be providing the expected results. I have tried a variety of combinations of options without success. Is there possibly a bug with the boolean logic, or is my understanding of the "AND" conditions incorrect?
There are also varying results depending on whether you are accessing via views, or accessing tables directly in query join condition.
Where could I get more detailed information/manual on filter conditions?
Aspects I have tried including in the filter classification criteria (in varying combinations):
Request Source : User Name
<AND>
Target : DatabaseName (with * inclusion and optionally specific exclusion) (I tried with, or, without the JOIN TYPE<all joins> at database level)
<AND>
Target: *(all) TableNames (covering the database with tables not to be joined <OR (via another filter)> Target: *(all) ViewNames (covering the database with views not to be joined)
<AND>
Query Characteristics : JOIN TYPE<All Joins> (I tried with and without this filter-level criteria)

We have a system running Viewpoint 15.00 and Teradata 15.00 with SLES 11.
Prior to upgrading to SLES 11, so the Teradata and Viewpoint were both 15.00, we had configured the Query Monitor portlet to refresh every 10 seconds (The Sessions data collector sample rate was set to 10 seconds and the Monitor rate for Sessions sampling was also 10 seconds)
Once the OS was upgraded to SLES 11, the refresh for the Query Monitor portlet changed to 1 minute.
I have checked the Viewpoint configuration/installation and user manuals, however can't see why this has changed.
Can anybody please advise how we can change the Query Monitor refresh rate back to 10 seconds ?

We are getting alert- Check for a system hang on the monitor partition. VP was unable to collect data for SQL Explain info.
Is there any query to identify system is hung due to a particular session and corresponding partition?
I'm working with the TDExpress15.10.0.7_Sles11_40GB_vp on VMware. Everything but Viewpoint is working just fine. I've run "start Viewpoint" (also stop and start a few times). Whenever I start up Firefox, I get the message I reference. Has anyone else run into this problem?
anyone have recommendations on metric to use and value settings for a 2800 appliance. I see the metric, Disk Usage on pg.249 of VP User Guide is displaying as a % . What source is this metric derived from and how would I determine what min/max threshholds to set for a 2800 node?

I am using image TDExpress15.10.0.7_Sles11_40GB_vp and found that Viewpoint is not configured in this machine. I created the Viewpoint user as well as console user, still not able to add database on Teradata System tab.
Can somebody help me in this regard ?

This is the 1st time i am using the viewpoint portel.
In the firefox browser i tried both http:localhost:9080 and http:127.0.0.1:9080. But i was unable to view the point.
When i checked the log in /opt/teradata/viewpoint/portal/logs/viewpoint.log. db.properties file is missing.
What should i do and how do i resolve this. I simply created a db.properties file. It seems to be looking for some information in db.properties. I had created a empty file

I am trying to avoid Full Table Scans on one of our big tables. I tried to create a filter, but it is working fine for the queries which are referring only this table. If we join with other lookup/dimention tables, it is throwing error (filter error) as it is seeing full table scan on those small tables.
Example: Tablename: Sales --- parition on 'txn_date'
Filter runs fine for below query:
sel * from Sales; --> this throws Filter error as expected.
sel* from Sales where txn_date = date-1; --> as expected, filter doesn't stop this query, this returns rows.
But, I am expecting below query also to be successful:
sel d.dpt_id, s.total_sales
from Sales s
,dept d
where s.dpt_id = s.dpt_id
and txn_date = date-1
;
This filter is stopping this query also. Because, it is going with full table scan on table 'dept'.
As a workaround I can put table 'dept' in 'exclude' objects list. But, this list will be very huge.
In future, if some new tables comes and joins with this big table, it will throw error again.
Please let me know if any way to achieve this.
Briefly, I don't want to allow any qery which is accessing table 'Sales' without condition on 'tdn_date', I don't bother about FTS on all other tables.

We moved from version 14.10 to v 15.10 recently. Big changes. I can not find the portlet collapse function. The "resize" at the bottom doesn't work the same even though it is the same icon. In v14.10 the collapse rolled the portlet up to a single line on the page. This made busy pages easier to deal with. Is there anything that does this in v15.10? Also, the resize seems to limited to making the portlet larger and has a minimum of about 1/2 page vertically. Is this correct?
